Golka, Philipp

Having been interested in „impact investing“ since 2011, I am researching the topic for my PhD in sociology since 2014. In my thesis, I study the emergence and stabilization of impact investing in the United Kingdom from 1997 until today. My research interest is in explaining findings from political economy with an economic sociology approach. Understanding impact investing as a redistributive process of financialization, I seek to describe and explain the dynamics in the coordination of social action that allow the process to unfold. More generally, I am particularly interested in the link between financialization and state action.
I joined the University of Hamburg in September 2017, while my PhD is set at University of Jena.
